JET update!!!
Due to popular demand, I have designated
this page to update those of you that are interested in Jet's progress
with his megaesophous condition, updates with his new family and photos.
Thank you to his new family for the
wonderful care and treatment he is being given, thank you to those of
you that have been very concerned about him from the moment that we figured
out there was a problem, and thank you to everyone that cares about him!
He's a very special puppy and he has pulled on MANY heartstrings!

JET:

Puppy kisses from Jet! This one shows
Kel is missing that back leg. He like Jet hasnt let it get
him down in any way either, he just figures out ways around the
hold up. I think these two are gonna be lifelong buddies
for sure! ;-)

Hey Beth!
Glad to hear you enjoy the updates, haha, Jet is quite the clown
and we do have fun with the little shaver! Here is a
photo of the boys sharing a chew on a stick!
We are on a new communication level now too about potty time!
Today he barked when he needed to go out! YAY! He is
such a smart guy! So cool that he just sorta figured it out
and he probably thinks I'm a bit weird cuz I was so excited about
taking him to go pee, haha!
Yesterday we went out and spent the day raking and cleaning up
the patio. It was the first time Jet and Kel were outside
together and they did just fine! I have to keep an eye on
Kel because he thinks he is the same size or something because he
honestly doesnt realize that he is rougher in his play. My
reminders help and he will slow down to let Jet catch up.
This morning was a cool breakthrough too because Jet had managed
to get past the barrier that I have up keeping him and Kel seperated
overnight. Kel came in and woke me up to let me know that
Jet was eating out of his dish! He seems to know that Jet
isnt supposed to do that for an important reason so he came runnin
to get me. I thought that was pretty awesome!
Haha, Jet didnt think it was cool to get told on and he knew too
he was doing a no no so he ran like heck, haha! So I keep
Kel's dish up overnight too, just in case.
Jet is growing! Gaining weight and is very active!
Impish! He still gets a charge out of chasing the cats and
is curious about anything that moves or makes noise. He is
so fun to watch outside exploring the big world. I hope these
pictures, taken today. give you a good idea how well he and Kel
are getting along and how good he is doing. We've got a routine
for feeding going and so far so good with it. I am making
sure that I have upped his calcium intake so that he is doing better
with the front feet too. Hopefully, he will overcome all the
stuff he has going on and he'll do just great! He doesnt let
his condition slow him down much, he seems to be doing really good.
I hope that it only gets better for him.

Hi there!
Jet is doing great! He is growing and loves it outside! He will
chase
anything..leaves, bugs, his tail...he is a little character to be
sure!
Kids are just having a ball in this warmer weather and they love
that Jet can go out and play with them. Kel got Jet to follow him
out to the swampy area on the last really hot day and Jet came back
totally black! So bath time for him! Kel is tall so he just had
black legs but he took off once he figured out he was next! I'm
fencing off the whole yard but that part is in the back yet and
I havent quite got that whole part finished but I've decided to
reroute it more in now cuz trying to wash off that rich black yucky
stuff is nuts! Best to avoid that!
So anyhow, thought I'd let you know whats going on and that I havent
forgotten about ya, just havent been online as much. Take care and
I'll get you some pictures soon! |

Jet is doing GREAT! He is growing and having a blast outside. He
continues to have issues with his tummy and eating. It is sometimes
tough to know how to adjust his meals with his growth spurts but
we are figuring it out. I have a tough time getting him to gain
weight but he is doing fine. I have to really keep an eye on how
much more he can have without giving him too much because he'll
just throw it up. So
its still sometimes trial and error but we find a formula that will
work until he grows a little more and it changes again. I can tell
when he needs more but the trick is figuring how much is too much.
He and Kel find lots to get into and literally had me on the ground
laughing at those two. This chipmunk had run into a plastic pipe.
Jet has his nose in one end, Kel's big snout is in the other and
the two of them are pushing it all over the yard. Jet would yip
and get frustrated, Kel would then push the pipe all over til Jet
got back on the other end. They had it rolling and zipping all over
and I can only imagine what that chipmunk was having to go through
inside that pipe! It was sooo funny! They kept after it for about
15 minutes before Jet finally ran from his end over to Kels and
the chipmunk made his getaway. Quite the entertainment! That chipmunk
has been teasing those two relentlessly ever since and its fun to
watch all three of them. I just hope that the chipmunk doesnt ever
make a mistake and either one of those two get a hold of it, ha!
After all that teasing, I dont think they'd be too merciful!
So thats the update so far! Things are going good and although
a little bit of a struggle dietary wise, its still all good. Hope
things are going fine on your end too and you are all out and about
enjoying summer! The heat has been crazy but I guess I'll still
take that over -40 anyday! ;-)

Note from Beth: WOW...is he ever looking like DAD!!! |
OCTOBER 2007
Jet is doing good, its a constant struggle to maintain that weight
for him. He eats well, we've got him now standing on his hind feet,
paws up on a high stool and keeping that back upright so he gets
it all slid down. We have to watch EVERYTHING he eats because he's
at the point where solids will make him cough or throw up. He can
only have blended up food otherwise anything else sticks in that
esophogus. He hears that blender and boy oh boy, he's up on his
stool waiting! :-)
Otherwise he is doing just fine with his health, is very active,
playful and finds tons to get into! He continues to entertain and
amaze us! |
